Prescribed burn in Redington Pass to resume
07:54 PM MST on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
The Agua Caliente Prescribed Fire in Redington Pass is scheduled to resume on Thursday, May 15. “We are hopeful that weather and fuel conditions will bring about the expected fire behavior,” said Deputy Santa Catalina District Ranger Sherry Tune. “Should the smoke be heavier than what we planned for, we apologize for any inconvenience that might bring.”
The burn had to be halted earlier in the week due to weather conditions including strong winds and rain. The fire is being conducted during fire season to mimic fire that historically passed through the area, with the goals of decreasing the potential for catastrophic wildfire and improving wildlife habitat.
