Campaign launched to fight stormwater pollution
07:33 PM MST on Wednesday, July 2, 2008
The Pima Association of Governments’ (PAG) Watershed Planning Department is launching it’s annual “Clean Water Starts With Me” outreach campaign. That message will be seen on television, billboards and bus shelters throughout the Tucson area.
The campaign, which will run through mid-September, encourages people to fix leaky vehicles, pick up pet waste, throw trash in receptacles, and use and store lawn chemicals properly. The goal of the campaign is to reduce the amount of debris that washes downstream during monsoon storms and ends up being deposited in desert washes.
“We are excited to have this level of exposure as part of our advertising campaign,” said PAG Senior Watershed Planner Malini Banerjee. “We also believe we have developed a message that is personal and easy for people to understand regarding their role in preventing stormwater pollution.”
