Poll worker recruitment campaign to begin
07:08 PM MST on Thursday, July 17, 2008
A statewide marketing effort to recruit poll workers for this year’s elections is being launched by the Secretary of State’s office. A newly created Poll Worker Recruitment (PWR) Team will be visiting malls throughout the state to educate residents on how they can get involved with working at the polls this election season.
“Becoming a paid poll worker is a great way for Arizona residents to become the backbone of our democratic system and get paid in the process,” said Secretary of State Jan Brewer. “Not only do people get a front row seat to this year’s historical election, but they will also get to ensure that Arizona’s elections run efficiently and smoothly.”
Those who sign up to become a poll worker will be compensated anywhere between $85 and $125 for each election they work. The PWR team will be in Tucson on Saturday, August 16, at Park Place Mall from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
