Early on Monday, July 21, Border Patrol Agents and Tohono O’odham Police were chasing a white Ford van on State Route 86 when one of the occupants started throwing bundles of marijuana out of the passenger side window. The vehicle then turned onto Herman Road where the driver and passenger abandoned the van. One of the suspects was arrested, however the second subject was not located after an extensive search.
1,635 pounds of marijuana was seized, a vehicle bearing government plates was recovered, and the arrested man, an illegal alien, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for prosecution.
