Man arrested for bus stop stabbing

A 50-year old man faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault causing serious injury for allegedly stabbing another man at a bus stop on July 17. Gregory Mirenda was taken into custody on Thursday, July 24, after viewers recognized him from pictures provided to the media by police.

Mirenda was arrested without incident at the Southern Arizona Veterans Hospital. According to Tucson Police, Mirenda had an exchange of words with another passenger on a Sun Tran bus, and when both men got off the bus in the 3500 block of East Grant Road, Mirenda stabbed the victim and then fled on foot.
