By Jim Edwards, Fox 11 News

More than a ton of marijuana was seized by Border Patrol Agents in two separate incidents in southwest Arizona. On Sunday night, August 3, agents from the Ajo Station noticed two vehicles driving through the desert with their headlights off. When they tried to intercept the vehicles, the occupants fled on foot. Further investigation turned up 51 bundles of marijuana in each vehicle, both of which had been reported stolen.

Early on the morning of Tuesday, August 5, agents from the Casa Grande Station noticed a suspicious silver Toyota Land Cruiser a mile north of the border on the Tohono O’odham Indian Reservation. When approached, the driver fled on foot into Mexico. Inside the vehicle, agents found another 51 bundles of marijuana.
