During the investigation, Mora fled to Mexico and lived with relatives in the border town of Ague Prieta, Mexico. The extradition process took 17 months to complete, and involved the FBI, the Mexican Federal Police, the Cochise County Attorney’s Office, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, and the U.S. Department of Justice.
“The Sierra Vista Police Department is extremely happy to get Mora into our custody,” said Sierra Vista Police Deputy Chief Thomas Alinen. “This is an outstanding example of local, Federal and international cooperation that has led to Mora’s extradition back to the U.S.”
