The incident began at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, when officers made a traffic stop at 3rd Avenue and Columbus Street. Police discovered that there was a felony warrant out for the arrest of the driver, 52-year old Mile Kaufman of Tucson, but Kaufman drove off before an arrest could be made.
Police say Kaufman made a U-turn at 3rd Street and Alvernon, and that’s when the woman either jumped or fell out of the car and was hit by the patrol car. Kaufman continued driving to the 1500 block of Dodge Boulevard, where he stopped and tried to flee on foot, but he was captured a short time later.
Kaufman has been booked into the Pima County Jail on the felony narcotics violation charge, as well as new charges of unlawful possession of a narcotic drug, felony fleeing, and domestic violence/criminal damage.
