Project Isiah to collect food, money for the hungry
07:47 PM MST on Thursday, September 4, 2008
The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona is coordinating Project Isaiah, an annual campaign to combat hunger in the community around the High Holy Days. Between September 15 and October 13, JCRC will work with local synagogues and Jewish agencies to collect donations of non-perishable foods and monetary donations to assist with the Community Food Bank’s hunger-relief efforts.
In the past, Project Isaiah has raised over 5,000 pounds of food and more than $2,500 to support the Community Food Bank. Donations can be dropped off at any synagogue or Jewish agency. The most needed foods include canned meats and vegetables, soups, cereal, rice, tuna, macaroni and cheese, powdered milk, and kosher food.
