September 27 event to raise money to fight childhood cancer
07:25 PM MST on Wednesday, September 24, 2008
The Third Annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand, hosted by the Easom family, will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park. Ilaria Easom, the daughter of Colin and Lina Easom, is a childhood cancer fighter now in remission. The family decided to host the event to support other families dealing with childhood cancer, and to raise awareness and funds to eradicate the disease.
Ilaria was diagnosed with a very rare type of childhood cancer a few days before her third birthday in 2006, but is now in remission. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started by cancer patient Alexandra Scott in 2000, who said she wanted to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Alexandra died in 2004, but the organization has grown to include thousands of volunteers across the country and has raised more than $20 million.
The event will be held at Ramada “A” at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, which is located at 3482 East River Road at Dodge.
