If you haven’t registered to vote yet, time is running out. The deadline to register is 11 p.m. on Monday, October 6. 2,000 people have registered in the last week, and nearly 500,000 people are currently on the voter rolls in Pima County.

Super Tuesday is less than 30 days away, and some people can barely wait. They’ve already cast their early ballot, with nearly 200,000 early ballots having been mailed out for the November Election, a new record. Pima County had to pay a private company to help mail the ballots. The county has 11 early voting locations open, including the Pima County Recorder’s Office downtown.

Voters feel strongly about this year’s Presidential Election, and about the candidates. “I’m leaning toward McCain and Palin, but I’m still on the fence a little bit,” said Mary Warren of Tucson. Added Fred Esser, “I look for experience. I look for the ability to make executive decisions.”

The Reverend Ricky Moreland said, “Whether it be an African-American male in the White House or a female in the White House, John McCain could make history for his first time being in the White House.”

The Recorder’s Office will be open Monday, October 6 until 11 p.m., and you can even register curbside. If you moved within the last 2 years, don’t forget to update your address on your registration form or your ballot may be disqualified if you vote in the wrong precinct.
