Teen dies in gang-related shooting
09:49 PM MST on Monday, October 13, 2008
A 17-year old Tucson resident was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting on Monday, October 13.
Police say that 17-year old Roy Fierros was inside a convenience store at 12th Avenue and Drexel Road shortly after 12 noon when he was approached by at least three suspects. A verbal altercation led to Fierros being shot to death outside of the store.
The suspects fled in an SUV and during a brief police chase, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The three suspects tried to flee on foot, but were apprehended by police a short time later.
Investigators say that the victim and the suspects are from rival gangs, and detectives are working to establish a motive for the shooting.
