Dropout Prevention Summit scheduled for November 13

A Dropout Prevention Summit meeting to address the high school dropout rate in the Tucson area will be held on Thursday, November 13 at Sunnyside High School. The summit will be the first of many events funded by a $10,000 grant from America’s Promise Alliance. Future events will include videotaped focus groups and town halls to help set up a plan of action.
The summit is being sponsored by the city of Tucson, Pima County, the Metropolitan Education Commission and local public, private and charter schools, and will have local youth provide ideas on how to increase graduation rates. Currently, the graduation rate both locally and nationally stands at 67%
The summit will run from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunnyside High School is located at 1725 East Bilby Road.
