Sells man sentenced for machete attack

A 38-year old Sells man has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for a violent assault on another man which took place in the Pisinimo Village of the Tohono O’odham Nation. Angelo Antonio pled guilty on September 3 to a charge of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in Indian Country.
According to police, Antonio attacked the victim by hitting him in the head with a machete and stabbing him in the back on December 1, 2006. The assault happened after Antonio became angry when he was denied a beer by friends of the victim. The victim was taken to a Tucson hospital where he remained for three days for treatment of his injuries.
