Two tunnels found in Nogales

Border Patrol Agents in Nogales discovered two illicit tunnels within a 12-hour period on Wednesday, November 19.

The first was discovered on Wednesday afternoon in the Grand Avenue Tunnel drainage system inside of a drainage tube. The tube runs underneath Arroyo Boulevard at Oak Street. A grate has been welded over the entry until permanent repairs are made.
The second tunnel was located that evening, also in the Grand Avenue Tunnel. Like the first, this tunnel was made by burrowing through corrugated tubing underneath downtown Nogales. The second tunnel was found to only be about 10 feet in length.
