07:49 PM MST on Tuesday, December 2, 2008
A Tucson Unified School District Elementary School is being awarded the first Commercial Energy Efficiency Rebate from Tucson Electric Power (TEP) Company. Brichta Elementary earned the rebate by installing energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs and about 340 new light fixtures. School officials estimate that the new lights will reduce the school’s electric bills by $4,000 to $5,000 per year.
The rebate of $6,183.25 will be presented to TUSD during the district’s Awards & Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, December 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Townsend Middle School.
Commercial Energy Solutions offers cash rebates to commercial customers who install efficient lighting and controls, air conditioning, heat pumps, and other energy-saving equipment. More details about the incentives available to TEP commercial and residential customers can be seen by clicking here.
