BISBEE, Ariz. (AP) -- Members of the Minuteman Civilian Defense Corps say they've spotted more than seven hundred illegal border crossers in the past two weeks in southern Arizona's Altar Valley.

Between 35 and 150 volunteers from the anti-illegal immigration group have been patrolling the area outside Sasabe since April First. The group is in its third year of border deployments.

Spokesman Al Garza says they've called the U.S. Border Patrol to report sightings of 728 illegal immigrants. He says 234 were later captured.

Garza says illegal immigrants are -- quote -- "swarming" -- the area and smugglers are engaged in a cat-and-mouse game with the volunteers. trying to spot them.
