GLENDALE – A 1-year-old boy is dead after falling into the family's unfenced backyard pool Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.

Glendale Fire said they administered CPR on the boy at a home near 47th Avenue and Bethany Home Road before taking him to the hospital by helicopter.

According to the family, the back door was opened to let the dog out and the child got out of the house too.

When the boy'd mother went to look for the boy she found him in the pool. He is not known how long the child was under water.

Firefighter treated the boy with advanced life suppor protocols and the child was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital in extremly critical condition.

He died at the hospital.
