Anti-crime foundation offers reward in teen's death

08:36 AM MST on Wednesday, March 26, 2008

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A $5,000 reward has been offered for the capture of a man accused of gunning down and killing a Tucson teenager during a gangland battle.

The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation is a national anti-crime establishment based in Modesto, Calif.,

The foundation's offer brings to $10,000 the reward for Max Montijo LaMadrid.

He's wanted on a first-degree murder warrant in the Nov. 18, 2000, slaying of 16-year-old Tane Natividad.

Georgina Lopez, with the Pima County Attorney's 88-CRIME anonymous tipster line, said 88-CRIME is offering a reward of up to $3,500 in the case and the U.S. Marshals Service has offered another $1,500.

Natividad was killed when a stray bullet hit her during a gang shootout at an East Side fast food restaurant, police said.

Authorities believe LaMadrid spends much of his time in Mexico but also occasionally comes to the U.S.

The foundation's goal is to aid in the return of missing persons and secure the arrest and conviction of violent criminals, according to its Web site.
