Hunter Brent Rose was shot in the back, neck and face with about 100 shotgun pellets over the weekend.

NAMPA, ID - A Nampa man is alive after a gunshot scattered more than 100 shotgun pellets over his face, neck and back.

Brent Rose, an avid hunter, says he was shot while turkey hunting near Grangeville Sunday.

He remembers waiting and watching for a bird - when he heard something behind him.

He turned around and saw three teenage boys.

Rose says he waved his arm to warn them, but it was too late.

Doctors at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise told him he was lucky to be alive because two pellets had grazed his jugular vein and his spinal cord.

Rose says his coat helped save his life.

It’s pretty riddled with holes, there's pellets sticking out of it,” Rose said. “The cotton seemed to stop a lot of them. They're numerous all over, everyone's been picking them out."

Rose believes the shooting was an accident and does not plan to press charges against the boys.
