PHOENIX (AP) -- A teenager who kidnapped a classmate at knifepoint last year and was found with a backpack full of restraining devices and weapons has pleaded guilty in the case.
Brent Clark, now 15, pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault and kidnapping charges.
Mesa police said Clark confronted a girl with a knife as she walked home from school in March 2007.
She escaped and called police, who waited for the boy the next morning at the school. When he failed to show up, his parents were called.
Police said the parents went home, and Clark was discovered wearing camouflage and with a backpack full of weapons and restraining materials.
Clark faces up to 3 1/2 years and seven years probation when he's scheduled to be sentenced June 19.
