MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- A Phoenix pastor is recovering after he was tied up and robbed of his wallet and money.

Two robbers forced Pastor Jose Bahena-Estrada into his west Phoenix church Saturday night before fleeing in the pastor's car, police said.

Gila River police informed Phoenix police Sunday morning that they had stopped a stolen vehicle matching that of the pastor's, containing two suspects and another person.

The two original suspects were taken into custody by Phoenix police and admitted to armed robbery, kidnapping and stealing the pastor's vehicle, according to police. The third person in the vehicle was not involved in the kidnapping and robbery of the pastor but was booked on other unrelated charges, police said.

The suspects were booked into Maricopa County jail, each with one count of kidnapping, one count of armed robbery and one count auto theft.

Pastor Bahena-Estrada told officers that he was approached by two men when he was working in the parking lot outside of his church before they forced him inside.
