Wildfire near Kitt Peak grows to 2,000 acres
08:58 AM MST on Monday, May 12, 2008
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A wildfire burning in southern Arizona's Baboquivari Mountains expanded to 2,000 acres, a state forestry official said.
The Solano fire started Friday about seven miles south of Kitt Peak on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation and was burning mostly on Bureau of Land Management land near the Baboquivari Wilderness Area, officials said.
Fire crews are using air tankers to drop water on the blaze because of a lack of water in the area, state forestry officials said.
