08:23 AM MST on Tuesday, May 13, 2008
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Fire crews made progress containing a human caused wildfire that has charred 2,177 acres in southern Arizona's Baboquivari Mountains, Bureau of Land Management officials said.
The Solano fire was 85 percent contained according to information from the BLM. No structures have been threatened and no injuries have been reported.
The fire was still burning some desert brush land and some stands of juniper. No riparian areas have been burned at this time. Growth potential of the fire is low, the BLM said.
The fire started Friday morning about seven miles south of Kitt Peak on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation, about 20 miles east of Sells.
Plans for Tuesday are to continue construction of fire line, hold existing line and continue mopping up the fire, the BLM said in a news release.
