Former Navajo delegate dead at 90

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) -- Former Navajo Nation Council delegate Alfred Halona will be remembered during a funeral service Saturday at Rollie Mortuary in Gallup, N.M.
Navajo Council Speaker Lawrence T. Morgan says Halona died Tuesday in St. Michaels, where the former delegate had lived for most of his life. He was 90.
Halona represented the St. Michaels Chapter from 1991 to 1995 and served on the Education Committee.
Halona, an Army veteran, also was the chapter's president for more than a decade.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine; his daughters Gloria Ross, Karen Halona and Sharon Holland; sons Vernon Halona and Ronald Halona; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
