TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The Pima County Attorney's office wants to try a 14-year-old boy accused of abusing his 7-week-old son as an adult.
A juvenile court judge is expected to make a decision on the prosecution's request, said Dale Cardy, who heads the juvenile prosecutor's office in Pima County.
Ismael Robles is facing several child abuse charges after telling authorities he shook his child and struck the baby's head on a car seat handle, causing two skull fractures, according to court records.
Angel Robles was to be removed from his 14-year-old mother's custody and placed in a foster home upon being released from the hospital, relatives said.
Ismael Robles had a closed trial review hearing Wednesday, and a probable cause hearing was scheduled for Sept. 11, according to Cardy.
Future hearings will also be closed. If probable cause is established, a hearing will be scheduled, Cardy said.
At that time, all of the information surrounding the case will be processed to determine if the matter will be handled in juvenile or adult court.
