TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Two Pima County jail corrections officers have been arrested on computer tampering charges.
The Arizona Attorney General's Office says the pair is accused of accessing a Pima County Sheriff's database for purposes outside of their official responsibilities although they would not say exactly what the men were looking for.
Sameer Ibrahim Qasem, 38, and Keith Anthony Doty, 22, were booked Thursday into the Pima County jail.
Authorities say Qasem is facing 26 counts of computer tampering while Doty is facing eight counts on the same charge.
They have been placed on leave pending termination. Qasem was hired January 2003 and Doty in July 2006.
The men were said to have accessed the database between March 2007 and May 2008.
The sheriff's department is not commenting on what the men are accused of doing as the primary investigation was conducted by the FBI.
