Poll: Presidential race is about even in Arizona
11:30 AM MST on Wednesday, October 29, 2008
PHOENIX (AP) -- A poll released Tuesday shows that Republican John McCain is about even with Democrat Barack Obama in the race for McCain's home state.
The survey by KAET-TV and Arizona State University shows 46 percent of registered voters in Arizona support McCain, while 44 percent favor Obama. Nine percent were undecided.
Thus far, the race for Arizona's 10 electoral votes has been a low-wattage affair. Neither candidate has spent a lot of time and money campaigning in the state.
A poll taken by the university a month ago showed that McCain had been slightly ahead of Obama with a 7-point advantage.
The statewide poll of 1,019 registered voters was conducted from Oct. 23 through Oct. 26 and has a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
