Soldier killed in Afghanistan remembered in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Friends and family are remembering a soldier and father of two daughters from Tucson who was killed in Afghanistan.
The memorial service for Cpl. Charles P. Gaffney Jr., 42, will be held Sunday at a Tucson chapel.
His remains will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Gaffney was killed in Paktia, Afghanistan on Christmas Eve by enemy rocket fire.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, Ky.
Gaffney's father says his son's wife and children live in Idaho, but the family lived in Tucson in the 1970s.
Gaffney was an M-4 rifle expert.
Among his decorations and awards is the Army Commendation Medal.
