TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Five men carrying weapons and drugs are in custody after U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered more than 1,500 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned vehicle on the Tohono O'odham (toh-HO'-noh OH'-tuhm) Reservation.
Agents working near the town of Arivaca (ayr-uh-VAH'-kuh), about 50 miles southwest of Tucson, encountered five men carrying three automatic rifles and two shotguns Tuesday night.
A Border Patrol Tucson Sector spokesman says the men were all from Mexico and were carrying six bundles of marijuana that weighed a total of nearly 300 pounds.
The men were arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
