TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- A man on the verge of being tried for a 1990 murder has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Authorities said Thomas Burton Trosper admitted he killed Kenneth Geiger, 37, during a struggle. Geiger's body was found at a Tucson motel on June 2, 1990.
Trosper, 54, entered his plea Tuesday as his trial was about to start in Pima County Superior Court.
Trosper is scheduled to be sentenced July 1 and faces up to 15 years in prison, according to prosecutors.
At the time of his arrest last year, Tucson police said Trosper was linked to the scene of the crime with fingerprints and tracked to Brooksville, Fla., in January 2007.
