Arizona's unemployment rate dips in April
04:02 PM MST on Thursday, May 15, 2008
PHOENIX (AP) -- The monthly unemployment rate in Arizona dropped slightly in April as the state's construction industry continued to record job losses.
The Arizona Department of Commerce reported on Thursday that April's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9 percent, down from 4 percent in March. The national unemployment rate for April was 5 percent.
The state lost 4,600 jobs in April. About 70 percent of losses came in the construction industry, which has suffered as the state has experienced a downturn in its economy and housing market.
