BAGHDAD (AP) — A suspect in this week's deadly double bombings in the Iraqi capital has been killed after shooting to death one of this interrogators.
The Interior Ministry says the man grabbed a gun from a guard, wounded the guard then shot the officer investigating officer. In a statement today, the ministry says the suspect was also wounded and later died at a hospital.
A man identifying himself as the cousin of the slain officer says the incident happened two days ago.
Last Sunday's attacks in downtown Baghdad killed 155 people. It was the worst such attack in two years.
Al-Qaida's umbrella group in Iraq has claimed responsibility. Iraq's prime minister has blamed the attack on supporters of former dictator Saddam Hussein and al-Qaida.
