PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — At least 24 people have been killed in an explosion in Pakistan.
The blast destroyed scores of shops on both sides of a road and knocked down electrical wires. Officials suspect a bomb was planted in a car outside a market.
Police say another 48 were wounded, 12 of them critically.
The bombing was the third blast in three days in or near Peshawar (puh-SHAH'-wuhr), the capital of the North West Frontier Province. It's an area bordering the tribal region where Pakistan's army is pushing into a key Taliban and al-Qaida sanctuary.
No has one claimed responsibility, but authorities have blamed similar attacks in recent weeks on the Taliban, apparently aimed at avenging the army offensive along the Afghan border.
