CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — Venezuela's state oil company says it has cleaned up a beach after water tainted with oil spilled along the Caribbean coast.

Petroleos de Venezuela SA says a pool where liquid waste is treated overflowed Wednesday, contaminating the beach near El Palito refinery west of Caracas.

PDVSA says about 50 barrels of the liquid leaked.

It said Thursday in a statement that local flora and fauna were not affected.
