BAGHDAD (AP) — Google is documenting the treasures of Iraq's national museum.

Google chief Eric Schmidt says the company took 14,000 photographs of the museum and its artifacts and will put them online early next year.

At a museum ceremony Tuesday, Schmidt said the artifacts represent the beginning of civilization and Google will make their images and ideas available worldwide.

The museum holds artifacts from the Stone Age through the Islamic caliphates. It was looted in the chaotic days after the American-led invasion of 2003. It was reopened earlier this year.
