NUKU'ALOFA, Tonga (AP) — A weather official in the Pacific island nation of Tonga says there's no indication of earthquake damage following an offshore quake.

There are no reports of injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.8-magnitude underwater earthquake was centered 120 miles northeast of the capital.

One resident of an island 185 miles northeast of the capital said the quake lasted about 45 seconds and was "really going."

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says there's no threat of a destructive widespread tsunami.
