BAGHDAD (AP) — An Iraqi official says security forces have rounded up dozens of suspects in last week suicide bombings in Baghdad.

Clearing up a misunderstanding, the Iraqi said Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's (NOO'-ree ahl-MAHL'-ih-keez) remarks yesterday didn't mean the suspects themselves were members of various security forces.

Al-Maliki had said the investigation continues into the December 8th attacks that killed 127 people and wounded more than 500. He said several security forces were involved in the probe.

The prime minister is running for re-election in March on a campaign of restoring security in Iraq. He has come under fire following a series of blasts targeting government institutions in downtown Baghdad.
