How do I report an offensive comment, photo or video?
There is an "abuse" icon underneath each piece of content that is submitted by site visitors. Clicking the icon will send a notification to our web team who will then review the content and make a decision according to the guidelines provided in our Terms of Service.
Are there certain formats and file sizes required for photos/videos I want to upload?
Yes. The top of appropriate upload page provides a listing of the acceptable file formats and file sizes. If you try to upload an image or video that is the wrong file format or the wrong size, you will receive a message restating the acceptable formats and sizes and then given an opportunity to correct the issue and re-upload.
Can I delete a photo/video I upload?
No, you will not be able to delete a photo/video after you hit the submit button. Once content is uploaded it is the property of AH Belo Corporation and Belo Corp properties.
I'm having trouble uploading my video/photo. What do I do?
First, check the file type and size. If you're file extension is not something we accept, resave your video in a acceptable format and within the size limits. Then re-upload. If you're still having an issue, log out, close your browser. Open a new browser, log back in and try again. How long will my comments, photos or video stay on the site?
Comments will appear with the story for as long as the story is displayed on the website. Photos and videos will appear in the galleries as long as the galleries are still active. All user submitted content will be archived for a minimum of 18 months.
Can I get copies of photos or video that someone else has uploaded to your site?
No, photos or videos uploaded to our sites are the property of AHBelo Corporation and Belo Corporation and as such are subject to our content copy write agreements.
I don't see my video/photo. How can I find it on your site?
Usually a photo/video will appear in the gallery where clicked the "upload" button. If you don't see it, search on your screen name and it should be one of the returned links.
Can I email pictures and videos to a friend?
At this time you are only allowed to email videos to a friend.
Can I delete my comment after I submit it?
No, once the submit button has been clicked we can not delete the comment, so be sure that you're message is relevant and appropriate to the subject.
Can I create my own photo/video gallery?
No, at this time you can not create your own galleries.
Can I comment without registering?
No, you must be registered to comment. If you are not registered and you try to make a comment, you will be prompted to complete our simple online registration form.
Can I recommend something without registering?
Yes, you do not need to be registered to recommend an article, comment, photo or video.
Can I upload photos/videos without registering?
No, you must be registered to upload any content. If you are not registered and you try to make upload content, you will be prompted to complete our simple online registration form.
Can I make a comment anonymously?
No. While you can hide your avatar, you can not hide your screen name.
How can I change my screen name?
No, you can not change screen name.
Can I use my own avatar?
Yes. If you have a particular avatar you would like associated with your screen name, go to your profile page (click on your screen name or visit member center). Check the "upload new image" and then browse for the image you want to use. Avatars on our site are 60 x 60 pixels.
How many characters can I use to create my screen name?
Screen names are anywhere from 6 to 36 characters in length and should not represent objectionable phrases or work.
Why can't I see any user-submitted content in my Internet Explorer 6 Browser?
The security setting in Internet Explorer 6 may prevent you from viewing the user-sumitted content. To correct the problem, follow these steps:
- Select Tools / Internet Options from the menu
- Click on the "Security Tab"
- While "Internet" is highlighted (should be highlighted by default), click on the "Custom Level button on the bottom of the window
- Scroll down to "Miscellaneous" and enable the following option "Navigate sub-frames across different domains"
