Porto beats Setubal to close on Portugal leaders

LISBON, Portugal (AP) — FC Porto beat last-place Setubal 2-0 on Sunday to close in on the Portuguese league leaders, as Braga blew a chance to move clear at the top with a 0-0 draw against mid-table Naval.

League leader Benfica, which drew 2-2 at Olhanense on Saturday, and Braga both have 30 points.

Four-time defending champion Porto has 29 after Ernesto Farias and Silvestre Varela scored within two minutes of each other in the first half.

Also Sunday, Rio Ave beat Maritimo 1-0 and Academica was a 2-0 winner over Leixoes.

Sporting fell 12 points behind the leaders following a 1-0 loss to Leiria on Saturday, while Pacos Fereira beat Nacional 2-1 on Friday.

Belenenses faces Guimaraes on Monday.
