ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Trevor Cahill allowed two hits over eight innings, Kurt Suzuki homered and drove in two runs and the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Cahill (10-4) struck out four and walked three as he took over the team lead in victories, breaking a tie with Gio Gonzalez.

Rajai Davis had three hits for the A's, who are 8-3 since the All-Star break. Oakland pulled within 7½ games of the AL West-leading Rangers.

Cahill improved to 5-1 for his career against the Rangers, 2-0 with a 0.87 ERA in three starts at Rangers Ballpark, one of the toughest stadiums in the majors for pitchers.
