GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay Packers have released wide receiver Jake Allen.

Allen spent the entire 2008 season and the first seven weeks of the 2009 season on the Packers' practice squad, and was signed to the team's roster after Brett Swain sustained a season-ending knee injury.

Allen played briefly in the Packers' Nov. 1 loss to Minnesota and was inactive for two other games.
