More Arizona Road Trip05:50 PM Mountain Standard Time on Wednesday, March 26, 2008
CROWN KING - The now-living ghost town is located in the Bradshaw Mountains, in the Prescott National Forest - approximately two hours located to the north of Phoenix, and south of Flagstaff.
Over 100 years Crown King was a booming gold mining town. The first gold min was claimed on July 1, 1875.
The town became even more official in 1888 with the post office being established.
The town's location in the Bradshaw Mountains makes it one of a few Arizona towns that in fact does experience all four seasons.
The full-time population of Crown King is about 160 people. Many people have vacation homes in the area, so at times during the year the population increases.
The town sits 6000 feet above the desert floor and offers a peace and tranquil get away immersed in all the highlights of the out doors.
