This is footage that I took on the way back from "chasing" a severe storm about 45 miles east of Hagerman with my father, a certified SKYWARN weather spotter.
The storm produced heavy rain and hail. We almost hydroplaned off the road at one point. However, we avoided the hail shafts to the north of the storm so the hail size is unknown.
On the way back, we went north on State Road 172 towards Caprock, and captured this interesting lighting strike.
